New weblog to add to SharpReader

Looks like my homeslice "Joshua":http://firepile.com/geekday/07102003_2/images/Hawaii.jpg has his weblog "up and running":http://www.firepile.com/log/archives/000005.html. The thing that was extra-interesting to me was the link to "Edith Frost":http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/artist/glance/-/55061/'s "weblog":http://www.edithfrost.com/. Here she is, a fairly big name recording artist, keeping up a weblog writing about geeky stuff like "browsers":http://www.edithfrost.com/archive/2003/07/28-i_think_i_love_fir.html, the same as the "rest":http://feralboy.com/log/archives/000195/ of "us":http://www.anklebiter.net/log/archives/000142.html. A Very Brady Wedding

Joel and Peggy got married on Saturday, on a cloudy, nasty day... but much like last week, the weather held off just long enough for the outdoor ceremony to complete. It was a lovely ceremony; both bride and groom got a little choked up during parts. The brunch buffet was extra tasty, as the bride's Italian influence in picking the food was readily apparent. Kiss, kiss! The newly-minted couple

All of the rest of the pictures are here.

Joshua and Robin's Wedding Pics

Posted the pictures from the wedding. Hot dancin' action! Cake cutting

There's also some ones of me, the SLF(Special Lady Friend), and my sister visiting Ryan in Philly later on that day. There are some good shots of Ryan trying on my jeans, which I think are a size too small for him.

See all the pictures here.

There are other pictures from the wedding here, and pictures from the after-party (which I didn't attend, sadly) here.

Jam-packed

It certainly is an exciting day out there today. Let's run through it: * Today the weather was good enough (and I felt well enough) to ride in, and it was gorgeous. I made the 15 miles in just about an hour and 15 minutes, and it didn't feel hard at all. Last time I nearly collapsed when I got here, so this time I took it a little bit easier, worked on breathing, and had a wonderful trip in.

* One of my babies from the last job has launched. I'm pretty proud of this site; lots of fighting with creative to simplify the layout, and there's lots of neat .nizzle stuff going on with the product pages. (BTW, this is the client who's ramp I was prepared to "Jackass" on, and also the one that I was having all the "Poo" fun with)

* You would probably have to know Brian to find this as funny as I do, but suffice to say that he likes to give himself challenges, whether it's biking, climbing or computers. Here's what I think he'll probably do the _next_ time he has to install a new distro:

# Write the new Linux 3.0 kernel himself at home. Using vi. # Use very small magnets to align the 1s and 0s on the platters to create a bootstrap program to load Slackware. Off of a cassette tape drive. # Challenge Linus Torvalds to an Indian leg-wrestling match, and if Brian wins, he gets to change the name to "Brinux", and have Hemos and CmdrTaco come to his house and install it for him, while Brian sits back and uses CowboyNeal as a footrest.

* Mark Pilgrim can kick your ass. He's been on a tear lately: Dave Winer's upset about the "Winer Number"? POW! jwz doesn't like CSS(Cascading Style Sheets)? BIF! BAP! Tim Scarfe thinks Mark's CSS(Cascading Style Sheets) tabs are misguided? BLAM!
I can just picture his wife-to-be dragging him away from the computer, while his arms flail out towards the keyboard... "C'mon! Lemme at 'em!".

Weekend Update

Completely did not go to NYC for Throwing Muses this weekend. Too much going on here; Ryan's last weekend, etc. Friday night I helped a friend of mine move into a nice place on the South Side. 3 flights of steps down to move out, and 3 flights of steps up to move in. Ugh. After moving there was a housewarming dealie at Dave and Casey's new apartment (I swear, my moving karma is so high it's not even funny).

Saturday was sort of a bum-around day for the first half, then dinner at Pino's with Dave and Casey again, and then off to do some serious drinkin' at Dawn's place with Ryan.

Sunday morning. Ow. Ow. Owowow. Back to sleep. After lunch and some serious amounts of water, I decided to go for a ride to sweat out all the red wine in my system. 20 miles later, and I felt a lot better. Helped Ryan pack up his car and clean up his apartment, and then went to dinner at Regina Margherita with Paul/April and Brian/Jen, who is just about ready to pop.

I also had a little time last night after dinner to bring back a few entries from my log that had gotten me in a small bit o' trouble with my former employer. I'm no longer working for said employer, so now they're back.

Open up and say "ow!"

Went with a large group of peeps on Friday night to try out a new sushi place, Nagoya, which is near Fox Chapel. The food was actually quite good, and very reasonably priced, but by far the highlight of the evening was watching JR eat two very large blobs of wasabi, straight up. Here's a picture of JR right after eating the first blob: JR looking pained

And here is a QuickTime movie of JR eating the second blob. The lighting is kinda low, but you can definitely see how big that chunk o' wasabi is.

April + Fools

Little suprise birthday wing-ding for April last night. The SLF(Special Lady Friend) and I first went to that yummy Italian place. I'm not embarrased to say that I had exactly the same thing I had last time, it was _that_ good. Last night was the first night to really check out the new camera. I even got a short movie of April talking about holding her b(.)(.)bs! I'm sorry that the full-size images are so huge; I didn't have time to Photoshop them down smaller. But look at how nice they came out:

wrc party

ok, so the plan was supposed to be to have a few people over to watch the speedvision wrapup of the wrc rallye monte carlo. tivo was going to tape it on thursday night after i had already gotten on the road to n.j., and everyone was going to come over last night and watch. the problem was, i got home on monday night, and it wasn't there. it just didn't tape it. my thought is the wishlist search i use to tape all wrc rallies didn't work, because the program guide has a slightly different name for the show this season. i'll adjust it in time for sweden, and we'll see if i can't get it all sorted out. people still came over last night, and it actually wound up being bigger than i had initially thought... jen, casey, mara and the slf were all there; it went from a sausage party to a low-grade wingding! slf completely bailed me out by going and doing food/wine shopping during the day so we'd have enough snacky-treats... she went overboard, but in a very good way. the best part was that they brought me a little suprise birthday party cake! with b00bies! see for yourself: ooo! you suprised me and my luscious breasts! you're excited? feel these nipples! the girls help get all that pesky whipped cream off see all the pictures

went out for dinner last

went out for dinner last night with the Special Lady Friend. on a whim we went to a very nice japanese fusion/sushi place. they have such fantastic stuff there, although chaya is still my favorite place for straight-up sushi. in other news, my best friend had his baby yesterday morning. spencer was 7 lbs, 22 oz.

finally, i was digging through the temp folder on my work machine, and dug up some really cute pictures of my friend aimee and me from christmas time. here's one: Me and Aimee

i'm on the bus heading

i'm on the bus heading home last night with a female coworker of mine. we got on the topic of strip clubs, which led to lesbian strippers, which then finally led to lesbians. she told me about a trip she took down to new orleans to visit a friend of hers who was a lesbian. they went several nights to a local lesbian bar, and my coworker was a bit put out that no one hit on her. "they probably could smell your straight-ness a mile away", i theorized.

"no, they knew right away when they saw i had long fingernails."

gotta love the practicality of that.

the sperminator

my best friend is going to be the father of a lesbian couple's child in about a month. he has the baby shower to go to this weekend, so we stopped by a store to pick up a gift for the shower. let me tell you; baby things have come a long way. first of all, john lennon seems to be this unstoppable force in baby goods; sort of the martha stewart of the infant set. nice that he can keep entertaining america's youth, even after being dead for all these years. also, the technology is amazing. everything seems to vibrate, rock, play music, or otherwise relieve you of the burden of parenthood. there was one cradle/bassinet thing that caught my eye; it had a record and playback feature so you could record your own voice (presumably saying something soothing like "don't worry... mommy is right here in the room, not downstairs having sex with the mailman"), which would play back intermingled with strains of lennon's "imagine". ryan and i had a good time putting our own messages on it and playing them back. "you don't know who your daddy is." "you have two mommies" "you were conceived with porn" etc.
